Emmy Kosgei
The gifted Emmy Kosgei was born on 22nd July, 1980 in Kelelwa, Mogotio, Koibatek District to the highly acclaimed cleric Bishop Jackson Kosgei and Rose Kosgei.
She started singing at a tender age at her local church and started recording collaborations in high school and at church with Maximum gospel singers.
A devout Christian, she attributes her success to her faith in God whom she describes as the pillar of her strength. In her musical life, she has been inspired by her parents, singers Esther Wahome, Rebecca Malope, Keke and Miriam Makeba.
While she continues to hit headlines all over Kenya, most of her life has been rather a mystery to the public. She is one of those superstars who choose to remain silent about her life and let people keep guessing.
Emmy Kosgei describes her musical style as richly African with melodious instrumentals and inspiring messages which minister to her audiences. She started recording with her first album “Katau Banda” in 2005 which was followed by “Kaswech” and then “Taunet”. She is undoubtedly one of the most successful African Gospel artistes with the highly acclaimed ‘Taunet Nelel’ and these two other successful albums including the recently launched album ‘Ololo’. Her music has seen her awarded the coveted Head of State Commendation (HSC), capped with performance of her resounding song ‘Taunet Nelel’ during the historic Promulgation of the New Constitution in Kenya.
Emmy is not just a gospel artiste, a patriot and philanthropist, but also a Fashion designer who runs the Emmy K House of Fashion label. She also operates Hope Academy, a school that emphasises spiritual matters and nurtures extra-curricular talent. The school educates 40 disadvantaged students, 37 whom she sponsors personally.

Emmy Kosgei's marriage to Anselm has been trending the media for a long time. While many people have been talking about this marriage and expressing their thoughts, very few of them know how they met. Her music is celebrated world over and she had been invited abroad as a music minister. It so happened that Anselm had also been invited to preach in the same event. Well, the rest of the story is obvious.
