Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has trashed the 20% pay cut by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, terming it ‘inconsequential’.
Speaking yesterday, Wetangula, who is also the Ford Kenya Party leader and CORD principal, said the 20% pay cut does not mean anything to President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto, because everything they do is fully paid for by taxpayers’ money.
He alleged that the President and his Deputy do not even know what their pay slips read because they are fed, clothed, housed and even ferried by money from poor Kenyans, who even go hungry just to foot their expenses through taxation.
The CORD leader cautioned Uhuru and Ruto to stop fooling Kenyans by populist gestures of 20% pay cuts, because it really means nothing to Kenyans.
Wetangula challenged Uhuru and Ruto to struck off the 16% VAT tax on basic commodities and reduce the high cost of living if indeed they want to help Kenyans, because a salary reduction will not have any positive impact on the lives of poor Kenyans.
